About the FotoWeb CMS Export

The CMS Export module in FotoWeb offers the possibility to export any picture or graphics file to your CMS system. In the process you can resize, add effects and otherwise customize the appearance of the exported picture.

This topic explains how the CMS export works and how it can be used to export pictures from within the FotoWeb user interface.

How it works

When you export a picture for embedding in your CMS, FotoWeb creates a permanent link to a cached version of the exported picture. When exporting, you have the possibility to define a publication expiry date, at which point the exported asset will become unavailable. (Your CMS will simply display a block saying "Media Not Available".) It is also possible to manually revoke a published picture so it will no longer appear in your CMS.

When you export a picture from FotoWeb, these are the properties that can be set:

Size & Crop - Useful for changing the pixel size, crop and rotation of the picture. This will be helpful to reduce the size of a picture when exporting it for e.g. web use.

Enhance - Lets you choose from a selection of filters to change the appearance of the exported picture.

Caption - Makes it possible to add a caption overlay to your picture and a tooltip (alt-text) when the mouse hovers over it. You can either use metadata already stored in the file or type in any custom text.

Action - Lets you define a click action for the picture when embedded in your CMS, for instance to navigate to a specific URL.

Behavior - Add effects to your exported picture.

Publication - Lets you specify a publication expiry date and name the publication.

Important: The pictures exported from the CMS module will be stripped of the XMP metadata that was stored in the original file.
